Vanessa Chica Ferreira (she/her) is a Dominicana from New York City, educator, poet, playwright, and co-founder of The Live Big Movement. Her work explores grief, memory, embodiment, fat liberation, joy, and reclamation. Much of her writing is rooted in her relationship with her late mother and in the ways love and loss live in the body. She co-wrote the poetic play Live Big Girl, performed at The National Black Theatre, The Tank, and BAAD, and Live Big Girl: A Chair That Fits, which premiered at Lehman College in 2024. A recipient of the Bronx Cultural Visions Grant in 2023 and 2026, Vanessa creates poetry, performance, workshops, and community-centered work that makes space for larger stories, larger bodies, and the complexity of becoming.
